Next Week

I believe that next week is going to be a real reality check for me. So far I have had to study, but nothing like I am going to have to do for all of my finals. There are soo many I just don't know how I am going to be able to fit all of this information into my poor brain. But on the bright I will be done on Wednesday at 4:15.!!! And that evening I get to go and watch my little brother in the Nutcracker play at his elementary school. It's gonna be so darn cute, I am very excited!!

Tuesdays For Me..

Every Tuesday I pretty much have the same routine,
- I go to work at 7am, and get off at noon
- Do some homework (usually something that I am supposed to have done for English)
- Go to English until 3:15
- Then I go to the study room and study the models for Anatomy until 5
- After I get done studying the lab stuff I go to a study session for Lecture (Anatomy)
- I have Computer Science at 6:30, I get out of there at 7:20
- & make my day FABULOUS One Tree Hill is on at 8 =)

This is a Tuesday in my life.

My To Do List..

1) study for lab practical
2) finish up my portfolio
3)study for my CS lab exam
4) Move into my new room
5) pick up shifts for this weekend
6) Schedule my online classes for next semester
7) As well as scheduling the appt. to do this with my advisor
8) make study guides for finals
9) & finally study, study, study for my finals

So much in soo little time, but I gotta do it!

Last Week of Classes

So this is my last week taking these classes, and I am so excited to finally be done with them all!! I am sick and tired of doing the same thing every day! One thing that I am not happy about though is all the finals that I am going to be taking next week, because of the end of the semester. This is no good, but I can't complain too much because I will be done by Wednesday at 4:1. =)

Snow..

We started out December with freezing cold a winds, but with these cold winds came beautiful Christmas snow. Today, I have not been able to say the same. The snow is now dirty and not pretty. The winds are just as strong and bitterly cold as they were yesterday, but we have no snow! So why do we still have the horrible winds, if there is no snow? I want to know this, because I hate the cold EXCEPT when it is coming with beautiful snow flakes. =)

University Core Curriculum for ENG 103:Rhetoric and Writing

Course Goals ~ Introduces and develops understanding of principles of rhetoric; basic research methods; elements, strategies, and conventions of persuasion used in constructing written and multi-modal texts. Upon completion of English 103 I have learned:
1.Yes, I have learned not only how to persuade what it is I believe. But I have also, learned how to defend my particular stance.
2.This is a big aspect of Rhetoric, and by using different elements of persuasion the author is broadening the range of their audience.
3.By drafting a more creative and unique piece it's giving the reader more enjoyment while they read it.
4. With technology growing as rapidly as it is right now it's giving many more types of many more types of mediums, and by doing this it's making the audience that much more larger. This is why we should try and appeal to as many people as possible when creating our writings.
5.Primary research is something like researching an finding out things to defend your side. Secondary is finding a quote that ties into your defense to make it more relatable for the specific audience.
6.I feel very confident about this element, and I believe the reason I feel so confident  about this element is because of all the Intensive and Peer reviews we have done in class.
7. I feel VERY confident about this aspect because of the Intensive and Peer Reviews as well.
8. I have learned to take much more responsibility for my writing, because I have learned that I am writing the papers to help possibly and that they will be read by not only me and my professor, but also by many others.
9. I feel somewhat confident with this task, because of the group work on the analytic project.

Coarse Content & Format~ the content and format of English 103 are designed to enable students to achieve the course goals; specifically, I have learned:
1.This is one aspect that I do feel very confident in, because this I feel is one of the number one things he has drilled into our minds ALL semester.
2.I do feel good about this aspect, because he has taught how to properly use the aspect of visual rhetoric.
3.I do feel confident here, because of all the Intensive Reviews and Peer Reviews we have done.
4.This is something I also feel very confident on because this is all we have done all semester is revise our essays.
5. This one aspect that I'm not exactly how confident confident I feel about it, because I'm not sure how much we have touched on it in class. (That I specifically recall)
6.This is something that I do feel moderately confident on, and the reason I say this is because I am not the most observant person and therefore I do not always notice the little things.
7.We have done a lot of this in class with our Rhetorical Analysis, This I Believe, Public Writing, and Multi-Modal Project.

University Core Curriculum Goals ~ The central purpose of University Core Curriculum is to enable men and women to live rich and satisfying lives and to undertake the broad responsibilities of citizenship in a free society. Although The University Core Curriculum seeks to discover and nurture individual talents, its primary emphasis is preparation for roles people share as human beings and as members of family and community groups. Thus, I have learned:
1. I feel that I have learned many things in this class, not only how to write a proper Rhetoric piece, but also how to defend that specific piece.
2.This is something that was developed I feel while we do the Intensive Reviews. So I do feel this aspect has improved.
3.I do not feel the most confident with this specific aspect.
4.Honestly, I do not even understand this specific question. Therefore, I am going to have to say no.
5.Not so sure this one has been developed through this class.
6. I feel that learning to defend my aspect of something has helped me to improve assessment of things in my life.

Back to Reality

Foe me, reality is beginning to set in on the fact that I only have three more weeks left in first semester. This means many things like the fact that will pretty much say good-bye to my social life, because I am just going to be working on studying for all my finals and projects that are all due within the next few weeks. I think it ill all be worth it though, because I'll no longer have to worry about the classes that I have now.

Black Friday :)

Black Friday 2010 was a total success!! I woke up at 3 went and stoop in line until 4, and then shopped and saved! I usually go every year, but I almost never go with my family, because my mom usually gives me the whole I'm shopping for you so no you can't go trip. But not this year she gave in and I am very glad she did.

Thanksgiving

Me and the Holidays a sort of love/hate relationship. The love aspect would have to be all the amazing food and getting to go home and see all of my family that I do not normally get to see. Now for the hate: upon this list are cleaning, see certain family members( and everyone has them), and my poor mom being all stressed out about stuff around the house. All the things are reasons the holidays are well the holidays.

End of the Semester

As the end of the semester approaches I am beginning to get excited for my new classes to begin, and start a new routine. With this also come the burden of taking finals, and after this week I am not so sure I am even gonna survive those. This week I have had three tests, and because of those three tests I have been on edge and soo stressed all week. So hopefully my finals week will not be as bad as I am predicting it  to be.. Although, I am sure it will live up to every once of expectation I have for it.

Monday-Friday; Good Stuff

There is something good about each day of the week for me, and they are...
-Monday>> It goes by really fast, because I stay sooo busy!
-Tuesday>> One Tree Hill and 16 and Pregnant are on
-Wednesday>> Hump Day and breakfast for dinner
-Thursday>> Day before Friday :)
-Friday>> I get to go home at 2 o' clock and that's my favorite part of the week most of the time.

Daylight Savings Time

Although, we fell back an hour on Saturday and we are technically getting up an hour earlier I do like it. Yes, it does stink that for like the next week we'll be getting an hour less sleep. Yet, I enjoy it because it mean when I'm walking to my 8am class it isn't completely dark outside. I feel like this makes it feel warmer than it actually is outside, but I don't that's just me. I just really don't like to walk to class in the dark in the mornings, and now I do not have to. :)

Today when we got into class we were told who's Public Writings were going to be Intensively Reviewed by the class on Thursday. Then after we got that we went into into our Peer Review Groups. I got a lot of good ideas for my essay, and reading everybody else in my group helped me to better understand what exactly was needed for a Public Writing.

Thursday November 4, 2010
In class today we did Intensive Reviews over Chelsey, Olivia, and Thomas' Public Writings. I found all the essays to be very interesting and I learned something new from each of them. Overall, the class had very helpful thoughts and ideas for the everyone. Although, we did not get through Thomas' we will finish his next Tuesday along with the other ones we still have left to do.

5 :)

There are only 5 more days until the end of the semester! This is good and bad all at the same. It is really REALLY good because I'll finally be done with Anatomy after this semester, but also not so good because this means I am gonna have to crack down and get all of my essays finally done. Overall I am very excited for this semester to be over and considering I'm not a very big fan of any of my classes.

Writing Center

All semester Mr. McArdle has been encouraging us to got to the Writing Center located in Robert Bell. Well this past week I took his advice and went to have them help me further understand exactly what writing a Rhetorical Analysis entailed (hoping this would make it a few pages longer), well there advice was so much more helpful than I ever even imagined it would be. They sat with me and we read through my essay and broke it up and talked about it in pieces. They really helped me understand exactly what should do to improve the essay, and they also have made writing my essay much easier. I would encourage everyone to go to get their essays reviewed.!

War in Iraq

This war in Irag has been going on for many years now, but why? This is the question everyone is wanting to know; especially since it's our loved ones who are over there risking their lives for a bunch of people who don't even want them over there. To me this is a very personal subject, because I have quite a few family members over there serving in the war. Yes, this war is creating a nice amount of jobs, but at the same time it's costing us as the consumers a lot of extra money when we make our everyday purchases. These are reason why I think that we should pull out immediately. In my essay I will talk more in depth on
this issue that's effecting us so drastically.

Definition of "Public Writing"

When I hear someone talk about a Public Writing assignment I immediately think of the news. I picture a reporter talking about a subject that is really big at that time; like right now I would imagine someone probably arguing different sides of the debate. Such as the side its good for and the side it doesn't so much benefit, but inconveniences. When someone analyzes everything that Obama is saying that will happen with this bill, and how these will benefit our economy. Then the reporter comes on and tells us how that just is not logical and would never work. These are the what I feel defines Public Writing .

My Fall Break;;

My Fall Break was fabulous!! It was so nice to go home and see everyone and just relax for a change! Although, we didn't go the Kings Island it was still a fun weekend! But I would like to know why high schools get a longer Fall Break than we do.. I mean what do they really need a break from?? Hmm, nothing! That is the flaw I found about Fall Break. That is all. :)

It Stinks!!

To the girls in my hallway who cook the weird food that stinks the whole place up; it's disgusting! I know everyone has their own tastes, but cook yours downstairs it's the nastiest smell ever and the odors from it seep into the hallway and smell up the whole place. And I can't just shut my door and ignore it, because the aroma goes in there too! So please fix your food downstairs cause nobody wants to smell that! Thanks!! :)

Fall Breakk (=

I'm so happy that Fall Break is this week! After mid-terms and a weekend that was anything but uneventful I need a real break! And plus it will be nice to get home and see my family, also this weekend I'm gonna go to Kings Island for all their Haunted Houses so I'm definately pretty excited about that. But most of all I'll just be glad to not have to be doing school work.

    There is a fine line between eating a ham sandwich for lunch and having shampoo we wash our hair with or even the Windex we use to clean our houses. Eating the ham sandwich is just a part of human nature we must eat certain things to stay alive just like those certain animals must eat certain animals to survive. It's simply the role in nature.
     Everyone knows that when they take a bite into that delicious sandwich a cute little animal lost it's life for it. But that cute little life was taken humanely. When an animal is tested on for a cosmetic company it's put through large amounts distress and kept in harsh environments. Most of the time after an animal is tested on they are left to suffer for extended period of time before they are put out of their misery. Yes, most of the time they are slaughtered just the way they are for food, but when they are tested on they are left in distress until then.
      There are other options to these tests that are performed on these animals. There are other ways to test these exact products that wouldn't put the lives of these innocent animals through all the pain and suffering. This leaves a person to wonder was the loss of this life really necessary? Since there are other options in the world of testing most people would probably agree with me that, no this isn't right. So why do these name brand companies still choose to do this when they know that there is whole group of consumers they are losing, because of this choice. In my opinion, the answer to this simple question is greed. Using these innocent animals for their tests is saving them on average millions of dollars so in reality they don't need those people they are losing because of their choices.  I believe this way is wrong and injustice, and that these companies should take advantage of the other options they have.

     


    

College Life

When I was in high school I thought I was soo overloaded with things to do and people to see. Now it's all the stress before times like a million I feel like. So no when I look back on how "stressed" I was before I just have chuckle, because truthfully that was a walk in the park compared to now. Now my life consists of studying, working, going to class, studying some more, and then throwing a little bit of sleep in there. Ahh the joys of college.

Web Site

I'm not sure I'm the only one, but I have had a terrible time trying to figure out this whole Weebly program. I feel like I would have so much more done on my project if everytime I tried to do something it wouldn't mess up or do something that I have no clue how to fix. So I'm sorry to my peer review group for the lack of stuff on it right now. I'm going to try and have a lot more up by tonight, though.

My room

So up until yesterday I had a lofted bed, but I absolutely hated it! So me and my roommate decided to rearrange our room, but we didn't have any idea how we even wanted it until we had my bed down, and everything from our room stacked up in the hallway. It took us two hours to just figure out the beds, and then we had way less room when the beds aren't lofted and we have entirely too much stuff. It turned out really cool, but I'm not so sure it was worth it, because after we finally figured our beds out and got them reassembled we spent pretty much the rest the day just getting everything in a place. So my advice is to NOT move your room!

I Just Don't Know

At this point in the creation process of my website theme and design. I still don't have an idea as to what I want ot do it over. This is where the creation process is becoming very hard, because to make a website over something, and not knowing what that something is, well that's pretty much impossible. At least I have til Thursday though. (:

Study, Study, Study!!

I feel like the last 72 hours of my life have dedicated to this one stinkin class!! Now I have taken the test, and did really really so it was all worht it, but I probably spent more time studying on one test here than I did on every test I ever took in high school combined. I thought I would be able just to go out every night, and have soo much free time, but was I ever wrong!

Rainn..

When i was in high school I used to find it nice to have it raining while I was in school. Or at least, it gave me the mind set that it wasn't so bad that I was in school, because it meant I was dry and I knew that there wouldn't be anything better to do outside due to the rain. But now when it rains I am not so okay with it, because it means I have to walk from class to class in it and even with an umbrella I still get wet and cold, and now it just seems to put a downer on my day.

woodworthh;;

At first when I found out that I was going to be living in Woodworth, because my roommate is a Nursing major. I was like; wow that's gay. But after living here for a year I have come to like the atmosphere as well the girls who live here. All in all I'm glad I am livivng here :)

Fridayy :)

Tomorrow is Friday, and not only is it my most favorite day of the whole week. It also means that I get to go home for a weekend of relaxation. This will be the first time I'm going home other than when I was sick, but that doesn't exactly count since I didn't get to really do anything! I am very excited to see my family, and we are going camping this weekend so it should be fun.

My fabulous weekk...

My week has been so crazy!! So I started off the week with mono, and was finally able to come back to school Tuesday evening when my fever went down. Then as soon as I got here I had to take two tests that had a deadline of Tuesday evening, but I didn't really do all that great on them. Because I was sooo sick all weekend and I left in such a hurry I didn't take any of my books to study. So therefore, I didn't do so great on my tests. And that is just a piece of the fabulous week I week I have been having.

Intensive Reviews

Today in class we did itensive reviews over three of the "I Believe" essays. When I first found out about these intensive reviews I wasn't really sure how I felt about them, and while some were very "intense" others were not so intense and they had positive feedback. Overall, I think that the idea of doing these reviews will really help the writers.

Fire Alarm

Dear Girl in Woodworth who pulled/ caused the fire alarm to go off while people were in the middle of very important things... Please try your best to not let it happen again, because standing outside while there are things I should be doing is not a way I like to spend my free evenings. Thanks! :)

So much more!!

This year, or better yet the past two weeks I have done more school work than I ever did in the whole four years I was in high school! This has been a very stressful transition for me. There has never been so much for me to balance and get done in such short time. For instance, in high i would have atleast a week for this draft of our "I Believe" essays that are due on Thursday. Although, this is what I signed up for when I decided to enroll in college it's just definately a whole lot to get used to!

What "I Believe" is..

I believe that I really don't want to do this essay. Like I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of those essays where the writer (aka me) just rambles on and on, and I'm not sure if it's just me but that really doesn't sound all that interesting. But hey that's just what "I believe".

Roommate

I have heard many horror stories about best friends rooming together in college and by the end of the year they aren't even speaking and then their friendship becomes ruined. Well me and my roommate have been best friends since the third grade! That's why at first when we found out that we both were wanting to come to Ball State we were a bit hesitant to decide to room together, but in the end we decided that we are rooming together. I mean if we can't make it through living together than I suppose we didn't have a very good friendship to begin with.

Official favorite movie!!

Although, my teacher doesn't refer to Nicholas Sparks as a true writer after watching The Last Song the movie I will beg to differ. Like the book (also my favorite of all time) I believe it was absolutely his best of all!!
